Jordan Ross

In this photo Jordan Ross is walking up from viewing the water-lilies. She expresses her style and class as shown to the left. Being a photographer, she is to carry her camera and snap away on anything she thinks can make a good story!

This student at UGA, Brad Olsen, was playing guitar on the street trying to make money and selling some cds. He recently released a new album and thought this was good to spread the word.

The Bee

This is a bee I saw that was sitting on a flower. I really like the focus point and the bee's wings. With this picture I was trying to show the light and position of the sun on the bee.

AWESOME HAT!!!

This hat is awesome don't you think?? I found it at Athena's Jewelers in downtown athens on Thursday June 16th. It stood out to me because you usually don't see people wearing crazy hats. If i had money on me at the time i definitely would have bought this hat.

Favorite pictures from today - Hannah Johnston

The first picture is one of my favorite from this week. The middle leaf is very detailed. We went to a garden to take pictures of flowers and plants. The second is different. I like the colors and also the sale poster in the back ground. It gives it life.

Random graffiti- Hannah Johnston

As we were on our journey the other day looking for graffiti, we stumbled across this wall. It was very colorful and artistic. I thought it was a great photo opportunity. The random couch and colorful design give it a different look. 

Lance and Chandler

This is Lance Wright. He is a student at UGA and he is training his dog Chandler, a black lab, to become a seeing eye dog. He is a volunteer and is looking forward to having his dog help someone in the future.

This photo has to be the funniest of the century. Nishant's expression is hysterical. In this battle between Apple's monopoly and the competitors' downfalls, Nishant gives his dormmate what is supposed to be the Apple "Death-stare". However, it just seems like he is shocked, disgruntled, and amazed at the same time. HILARIOUS!!!!! Lol! HP has nothing on this!!!!!

Caity Szalay.. an awesome camper!

This is Caity. She is 18 and is going to be a senior. She is like totally awesome and fun and crazy. Everyone at camp should get to know her! This is in the Drewry room in the Grady journalism building on the morning of June 15th. Her sunglasses are tye-dye and she believes that she will lose them if they aren't on her head. See? She's crazy.. but awesome!

Athens Farmers Market

On assignment to take photos of the organic produce at the Athens Farmers Market, I adored getting all the different colors of the bright foods. They were for an article written on pesticides in foods.

This is a picture of Lance White, who is currently training this dog, Chandler, to be a future seeing eye dog. I like the look on the dogs face and the genuine interaction between pet and trainer.

Graffiti- Hannah Johnston

Yesterday afternoon I had to go and get good pictures for the article whether graffiti is art or not. What I like about this picture is how it shows personality of where the graffiti was. It was in a older ware house. Not just this bright cat was on the walls. There was many colorful designs. Having the trashy things, random plants growing, pipes coming out of the wall and the worn out bricks gave the picture personality and made it obvious about where all the graffiti is.

Press Conference

Dr. E. Clark, the Dean of the Grady College of Journalism, gave a press conference yesterday on the college, his origins, and journalism. He also answered several questions from journalism students for their articles as well as information about the college and the University of Georgia.

Headshots

Jordon Ross, a rising senior, helped us practice headshots with a reflector today. She was a lovely model and we tried to make the most of the small shaded space we had by using the space vertically.

Looks can be Deceiving

Looking at Jordan Ross, a rising senior at Grady High School in Atlanta, Ga., you would never think that she is an outgoing cheerleader who is determined to become the best in anything she does.

Our assignment was to take a portrait of a selected model. I was sidetracked by Hannah's intense yet beautiful stare. She seemed untouched and fragile and I was happy to photograph this rare moment of beauty.

Marcco Smith II

Peace and Contentment is frequently noticed and observed but rarely captured. Marcco Smith the second is an upcoming Sophomore at Martin Luther King High School. He has a very cool laid-back approach at life which can be noticed here.

Jordan Ross, a rising senior, goes to Grady High School. Jordan is a beautiful model who adds drama to any picture. With this picture I hoped to capture the light and drama in Jordan's face. I really like the angle and the degree of light in this picture.

Jordan Ross is a rising senior and goes to Grady High School. Getting a headshot taken can be a little bit awkward since the photographer is only focusing on you but Jordan shows that smiling can make any situation better.

This picture is supposed to represent a girl who is fairly new to the area. She is an aspiring photographer [which is why she has a camera], and she seems reluctant but comfortable to her surroundings.

This picture was not one of my best. But I tried. The girl in the picture has one of the coolest, and most difficult names. She is from Fairburn, Ga. She is also a rising junior. This was our first photo assignment in photojournalism. My focus on this picture was not exactly what I was trying to accomplish.  However, this was one of the best of the many pictures I took during our first photo shoot. I was trying to accomplish the rule of thirds in the picture.  

Allyson Busch, a rising Junior from Union Grove High. I was trying to achieve the rule of third.

I met Allyson the first day here at camp. She was quiet but nice. This shows her sitting on top of the newspaper stands by the Grady Journalism building. I think i achieved the rule of third by having her in the middle but just the top two thirds and not taking up the entire picture.

Marcco

From Lithona, Georgia, Marcco is a rising sophomore. In this picture I was trying to accomplish the rule of thirds.  Marcco was great to work with and he is VERY photogenic.

Jordan Ross

Silliness is always bringing a smile to someone's face when ever they are having a bad day. Jordan Ross, a rising senior at Grady High School in Atlanta, Ga., will always bring a smile to anyone's face no matter how bad of a day they are having.

This picture is of Hannah Johnston, a rising sophomore, whom I had the pleasure of photographing in our first photo shoot in our Photojournalism class. Hannah is from Macon, Ga. I really like the effect of the black and white in this picture and the way it brings out the details in the picture. I was capturing a portrait of Hannah as our first assignment.

Portrait Project

Taking portraits of strangers isn't the easiest challenge to take on. Our assignment was to get a headshot as well as a portrait of your partner. The shot of Kori Wright, a rising junior at Tucker High School, was shot in the shade for proper exposure to allow full details. Framing was chosen to place her near the right side of the frame but fill out the other side with her arm. The background was used to contrast the pink of her shirt and to make the portrait pop.
